We are inviting you to this mini workshop, where we will work on some of the core Balboa moves and mechanics.

The ArtHouse Dance Studios (formerly The Academy Mews Studios): 15 Pratt Mews, London NW1 0AD, Camden Town tube. The workshop will take place in the BALCONY STUDIO, top floor.
There are two classes, you can either book both or choose just one:
- Pure Balboa - the modern name of steps done in closed position;
- Bal-Swing - dancing in the open.
Who is it for?
These classes are good for those with just a little Balboa experience, i.e. yet not absolute beginners. Being a fast learner thanks to other dance experience is also an advantage.
What we'll do?
After a quick revisit (or intensive filling-in for brave fast learners), we are aiming at helping you to make those shapes and rhythms your own, to find the true feel and good communication for social dance context. We won't be slowly breaking down any of the steps from scratch.
Main focus: dancing outside of your 8-count pattern in PureBal; turns and out-ins in Bal-Swing.
Shoes!
Please wear slippery shoes. Leather or suede soles are ideal.
Other requirements:
We expect you to be somewhat familiar with these:
- up-hold and down-hold basics in closed position;
- some ways of transitioning from close into open and back;
- Lolly kicks aka lollies;
- leading and following some turns;
- having been introduced to out-and-ins is a great bonus!
