Learn or brush up on technique of Bal-Swing, that will allow you to keep high energy going while taking up little space
We are inviting you to this mini workshop, where we will look into some of the core Balboa mechanics to staying in open position when the dance floor is packed. And by the way, they help enjoying fast tempos, too!
Saturday, 24th January:
- 11:00 AM - 14:00 PM
The ArtHouse Dance Studios (formerly The Academy Mews Studios): 15 Pratt Mews, London NW1 0AD, Camden Town tube. The workshop will take place in the BALCONY STUDIO, top floor.
There are two classes, you can either book both or choose just one:
- Intermediate. Here the main focus will be on common vocabulary - outside turns, pop-turns, etc. The class is for those who want to gain more fluency with such steps, or for those who want to revisit the technique as it translates into many other moves and combos in Bal-Swing.
- Intermediate-Advanced. In this class we'll teach what we ourselves like to dance when the floor gets really packed, adding footwork variations as we go. The material shares much of its mechanics with the moves from the earlier Intermediate class, so you may also want to check those out.
Requirements:
We expect you to be more or less comfortable with these:
- some ways of transitioning from close into open and back;
- Lolly kicks aka lollies;
- leading and following outside turns; inside turns may come handy as well;
- different kinds of out-and-ins - especially circular and cross-overs;
- throw outs / toss outs;
- having been introduced to pop-turns is a great bonus!
Shoes!
Please wear slippery shoes. Leather or suede soles are ideal.
